This agreement marks Wiley’s first open access partnership in Brazil
HOBOKEN, N.J. – February 5, 2025 – Wiley, one of the world’s largest publishers and a trusted leader in research and learning, today announced a new three-year partnership with the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES) in Brazil. This agreement provides researchers from 434 institutions within the CAPES consortium – primarily federal universities – access to Wiley’s complete portfolio of nearly 2,000 academic journals and supports unlimited open access publishing across Wiley’s hybrid journal portfolio.
With the potential to benefit six million researchers and students who rely on the CAPES Portal de Periódicos this partnership reinforces a shared commitment to advancing Brazilian research on the global stage. It enables seamless access to high-quality resources and fosters greater visibility for local scholarship.

The Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES) is a foundation linked to the Ministry of Education that is responsible for coordinating the Brazilian Postgraduate Studies System (Master and PhD levels), and for authorizing the creation of new Masters (academic and professional) and PhD courses, as well as evaluating those that already exist.
