About the Author:
Jean is a New York Times bestselling author and trusted advisor to CEOs and senior leaders, he is founder and CEO of the research-based consultancy, Outside. He works with companies to help them solve the greatest challenges facing their leaders, harnessing the new science of mindset.
His most recent book, Leading in a Non-Linear World, explores the new science of mindset and how it enables sustainable wellbeing, better judgement and relationships in an era of extreme uncertainty.
Jean lectures at Saïd Business School, the University of Oxford, INSEAD’s LEAP programme and The Henley Business School. His clients have included: Google, BBVA, Nike, Coca-Cola, Condé Nast, eBay, GE, Microsoft, IMI, Halma, Sky, Pfizer, Sony, Schneider Electric, The Bank of England, Standard Life Investments, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, BMW, Warner Music Group and Toyota.
With over 30 years of experience, Jean has coached over 80 CEOs and senior leaders. He has worked extensively in elite sports, including as a performance coach to the board of the Women’s Tennis Association, helping to create a new leadership strategy for the British Olympic community over the past two Olympic cycles and also coaches the Leadership Team of the Lawn Tennis Association. In 2020, he worked with the Leadership Team of the Wimbledon Championships to develop their future strategy.
Jean co-authored the New York Times bestseller, The Way We’re Working Isn’t Working with Tony Schwartz. His latest book, Leading in a Non-Linear World, is due to be published in December 2022.
In 1997, Jean co-founded the think tank HumanITy, a UK charity that advises governments and NGOs on social exclusion and technology issues. In 2011 he attended the 2041 Inspire Antarctic Expedition ‘Leadership on the Edge’, where he spent a month in the Antarctic as part of an ecological research and lobbying programme. Jean initially studied neurochemistry before moving into performance science and management consultancy. He’s married with two daughters and lives in the UK, just outside of London.
