Hoboken, N.J—November 12, 2018— John Wiley and Sons Inc. (NYSE:JWa) (NYSE:JWb) is pleased to announce its newest Wiley Digital Archives partner, the Royal Geographical Society with the Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG). The partnership between Wiley and RGS-IBG, one of the world’s largest and most active scholarly geographical societies, is a new endeavor in a continuing relationship that spans over 18 years and includes an extensive journals and books program.
Wiley and RGS-IBG will work together with academic advisors, fellows, members, archivists and librarians to identify and organize the content for digitization. Several million images will be conserved and scanned, including manuscripts, maps, illustrations, monographs, field notes, meeting minutes, administrative records, proceedings, correspondence, ephemera and other archival content from among the extensive holdings at the RGS-IBG library and archives.
“The unique and incredibly rich material in our archive tells the story of geographical science and global exploration from our creation in 1830 onwards and this collaboration will encourage new educational and scholarly enquiry into aspects of our Collections,” said Professor Joe Smith, Director, RGS-IBG.
