Wiley is pleased to announce the publication of a comprehensive resource covering the highly diverse field of applied linguistics. The Encyclopedia of Applied Linguistics brings together over 1,100 entries written by an international team of scholars from over 40 countries. This ground-breaking reference work available online or as a 10-volume print set.

The Encyclopedia explores both historic and emerging areas of research within applied linguistics, providing an overview of 27 key areas, including Language Learning and Teaching, Bilingual and Multilingual Education, Assessment and Testing, Corpus Linguistics, Conversation Analysis, Discourse, Cognitive Second Language Acquisition, Language Policy and Planning, Literacy, and Technology and Language, and more. Individual entries range from 1,500 to 4,000 words, with the longer, essay-style contributions giving a detailed overview of key developments and ideas. It also features over 200 entries on the philosophy and history of applied linguistics, along with biographies of key applied linguists.

The online Encyclopedia will be updated twice yearly, to keep the work relevant and cutting-edge. It provides extensive cross-referencing and powerful searching and browsing capabilities, in addition to useful learning tools, such as color photographs and media files. Whether in print or online, the Encyclopedia will be essential reading for students, researchers, academics, and practitioners across the field.
