Wiley’s Nexty Awards Recognize Superior Course Designers

HOBOKEN, NJ – November 9, 2018 - John Wiley and Sons, Inc. (NYSE:JWa) (NYSE:JWb) today announced the winners of the 2018 WileyPLUS Nexty Awards, the first in an annual awards program recognizing customers for exceptional use of digital course resources.

HOBOKEN, NJ – November 9, 2018 - John Wiley and Sons, Inc. (NYSE:JWa) (NYSE:JWb) today announced the winners of the 2018 WileyPLUS Nexty Awards, the first in an annual awards program recognizing customers for exceptional use of digital course resources.

The WileyPLUS Nexty Awards program is focused on success in the digital classroom, coaching customers on best practices, and serving as peer leaders and drivers of product improvement.  All award submissions were evaluated for overall course design, including inventive methods of using WileyPLUS including both on its own and integrated with other technology and tools, variety and depth of technology utilized, assessment practices, student communication policies and approaches to pedagogy.  Applications were judged by a diverse panel of experts across Wiley’s marketing, product, editorial, product design, and customer success teams.

“Educational technology tools require creative instructors to employ them purposefully and engage learners in new ways. The WileyPLUS Nexty Awards celebrate the outstanding work of instructors who are always thinking about what’s next in EdTech,” said Nicole Dingley, Vice President of Customer Success.  “We are honored to recognize those who are driving change in the classroom, among their peers and within our company, with their feedback and ideas encouraging us to think about what’s next within our own business.”

The following winners received awards in these respective categories:

-          Best Overall Course Award (Higher Education): Liza Bondurant, Delta State University

-          Best Overall Course Award (K-12): Douglas Petrick, Upper St. Clair High School

-          Best Online Course Award: Kellie Grasman, Missouri University of Science and Technology

-          Student Engagement Award: Ashley Kruse, Texas State University

-          Best Multi-Section Course Award: Whitney Zimmerman, Pennsylvania State University

-          Most Innovative Course Award: Eric Wen, University of Hawaii, West Oahu

-          WileyPLUS Next Gen Partnership Award: Leslie Van Wolvelear, Oakton Community College

For more information on each award and why the recipient was chosen, please click here.  Applications via the WileyPLUS Studio for the 2019 WileyPLUS Nexty Awards will begin May 6th, 2019.  Applications will be completed over the summer and judged by a new panel of diverse Wiley employees.  Winners will be announced in September 2019.
