John Wiley and Sons Inc. (NYSE:JWa) (NYSE:JWb) and the International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT) are pleased to announce that the IAPT has selected Wiley as its publishing partner for the journal TAXON, beginning in 2019.

TAXON is the leading international journal in the field of systematics, taxonomy, and evolutionary biology of plants, fungi and algae. In addition to publishing top quality research papers, TAXON is unique in also publishing articles that pertain to the nomenclature, or naming, of plants, fungi, and algae. The governance of botanical nomenclature is managed by the scientific community, and TAXON plays a central role in recording this essential activity. Review articles, points of view, botanical history, and the news column “Plant Systematics World” are also published in TAXON.

“TAXON plays a unique role in the botanical community,” commented Vicky Johnson, Editorial Director, “we are delighted to be embarking upon a partnership with the IAPT to reinforce and enhance the value of this world-renowned title. We are looking forward to working with the IAPT and the TAXON editors to deliver increased access for readers and a first-class author experience.”

Patrick Herendeen, IAPT President, noted “IAPT is excited to join Wiley in the publication of our journal. With Wiley’s help, TAXON will be able to take advantage of the latest innovations in publishing. The technical and technological expertise offered by this leading global publisher, alongside their understanding of the needs of organizations like IAPT, made Wiley the partner that we wanted to work with.”

Dirk Albach, TAXON Editor-in-Chief, added “With Wiley, Taxon joins an elite group of other journals in the biological sciences, such as American Journal of Botany, Curtis’s Botanical Magazine, New Phytologist, Journal of Phycology, Biotropica, Molecular Ecology, and many others. We are looking forward to working with Wiley to bring our journal and the IAPT to the attention of the diverse global audience.”
